in the shop: valentines gift tags

Who’s ready for Valentine’s Day?!! I’ve been in the mood for Valentine’s Day since Christmas was over. You can see my love obsession a little bit here. I just love reasons to be happy! Another reason I found to be happy this weekend was realizing I could make my own homemade pop-tarts! Ummm… heaven! Brings back a lot of childhood memories. I loved that my siblings preferred the brown sugar flavored pop-tarts so I could have the strawberry ones all to myself. Obviously I didn’t execute these delicious pastries without flaw.. but you’ve got to start somewhere. The printable Valentine’s tags I designed (purchase here) are a perfect pairing for any sweet treat you are giving your loved ones this year. I was particularly excited about the “You make my heart go POP” tag. Pop-tarts, pop-rocks, soda pop, you name it.. So many fun ideas floating through my brain. I’ve also put up some easy printable Valentine’s cards for all you last-minute gift givers. The best part? You’ll have the pdf forever! You can use these over and over and over again. Even though these pastries aren’t perfect, I sure think they’re cute. Even better to eat! I got…

jean louis deniot paris apartment

We’ve had our eyes on Jean Louis Deniot and his unforgettable work for a while now.. it’s about time we feature some of his work. I am naturally drawn towards his style. Something about it is extremely magnetic and somewhat luring. I found myself printing off several of his images as inspiration for a project at work without even realizing it was all his. His work stands out because of its uniqueness and ingenuity. I love the mix of furniture styles and shape. The contrast between bold contemporary pieces and those that feel found and collected is bordering that of genius. Of all the spaces in the home, the bedroom seems to call my name more loudly. The light fixture commands attention but easily gets along with the rest of its friends in the room. The fluidity of the rug pattern is a gentle grounding of the bold lines up above. All elements in this space are balanced while fighting each other just enough to make it one-of-a-kind. Can you tell I love his work?   We believe it is always important to remain involved and educated within the world of design. It is important to me to find…

rich and warm

Is anyone else having a hard time dealing with life now that the holidays are over? I build up so much hope and excitement for the month of December that once it’s gone.. I’m left with an empty looking house and nothing to look forward to. The truth is we have a whole new year to look forward to but that doesn’t ever seem sufficient. Like always, I’ve consumed my time with getting re-organized and setting too many goals. Organization always lifts my moods ever so slightly. It also seems to make my brain tick a little bit faster. Give me a week and I’ll be back to normal. Adding to our spirits around here was the flu bug. Just about everyone that gathered together for the holiday came down with something. I, being the lucky (no immune system) type of girl that I am, got about three different bugs right in a row. I feel like I’ve been sick for months, which isn’t true in any degree, but that’s what I tell myself. It has given me a bit of extra time to reflect on my life- what I’m doing well, and what I want to do better….

art inspired living room

Sometimes the perfect place to start when designing a space is with the artwork. This living room inspiration board was created and inspired by “The Park” Pen and Ink by Lacey available at Invaluable.com. Selecting art can be intimidating for some but I know almost immediately if I connect with a piece or not. This website along with many others is a great place to start in order to see what style you lean towards. Check out their paintings here, and another one of my favorites here. I loved the looseness and freedom this piece portrayed. Because it was a little more abstract we brought in some furniture pieces that are a little more abstract as well. The space naturally pulled itself to a chic but funky aesthetic as I was selecting the pieces. This sofa, the Bennett from MGBW, is one of my favorites. You can’t go wrong with a unique shape. For the rug, I made sure to select a rug whose scale didn’t contradict the art piece’s lines. You can find this one here. Just a little home dreaming today! No better way to kick off the new year than with some furniture dreams! Have a…

at the table: christmas time

I can’t believe this season has gone by so fast! It happens every year leaving me wanting more. So these last couple of days I’m am committed to taking the time to enjoy every minute. Right now I am sitting on my sofa with the fireplace on, christmas music playing, tree lights sparkling, and my husband wrapping gifts. Does that not sound perfect? These are the types of moments I need to relish in. Our life is so good! We are so incredibly blessed. One of these favorite moments this year was hosting this Christmas dinner at our home. We had some of our loveliest friends from work over for dinner as well as the Alpine Christmas Concert. The night really introduced that Christmas spirit into my life like nothing else. Music and good food… again.. does that not sound perfect? It’s incredible to me how many happy moments we have in our lives if we take the time to think back on them. Anyway.. if you can’t tell I absolutely love everything about this season.. I do. I hope you’ve had a jolly holiday season. If not, you still have time! Enjoy those little moments and make some…

collected for you: christmas stocking inspiration

Griffin and I decided that we wanted to make our own Christmas stockings this year! We’ve had a couple of years at our family’s houses with mis-matched spare stockings and thought it was time to change that! I am more excited than I probably should be to have a stocking that matches his. There is something adorable about that to me. All cheesy feelings aside, they’ll also look great hanging from our mantel. I just finished tying pine cones to the lit garland above the fireplace this weekend – the only finishing touch it needs is a few stockings hanging from the side. So naturally, I turned to the pinterest world for some inspiration. I have to say, of all things to search for on pinterest, Christmas imagery is my favorite! Maybe I’m just a little over-excited about this time of year, but I absolutely love all of the inspiration. I’m sharing with you today a little bit of what I stumbled across. Hopefully it will inspire you to do a little personalization of your Christmas decor this year.   Are you so excited for the holiday season! I’m giddy. Seriously. My husband probably thinks there is something wrong with…

in our apartment: the studio

Although we don’t get to spend a lot of time here.. this space is now my very favorite to work in. This is actually the first space we started working on when we moved in. I felt like I needed a space I could be productive in, one that could hold and store everything neatly that I need to work. I’ll tell you.. it’s a dream compared to digging in boxes to find that one accessory I want to include in a picture. It’s also a space we have some room to grow into- not literally (it’s small) but we can organize oh so much more. Is it weird that organizing makes me so giddy? There is something so therapeutic and relaxing about getting everything in its place – a place you’ll be able to find again. Really, I think there is just a shortage in my brain that doesn’t allow me to remember things or focus for very long. That’s why a space like this is REALLY important for my sanity. You could say cleaning and organizing are quite literally my crazy pills. At least I’m aware and can remedy my insanity when it comes around.   The…
